Help me pack for transplant!

My senses tell me that transplant is on the horizon.  I have a bag packed, but want to get some last minute input from those who have gone before me.

My plan:  I will fly 2 hours from my hometown to Minneapolis.  When I get there, if it's a go, what will I need with me immediately before and after surgery?  Comforts? Bare minimum?

What did you bring when you got "the call"?

Bare minimum , you're gonna leave with many bags full of equipment and meds . I brought nothing at all

I didnt bring much of anything either. Just my oxygen. Later on when I was out of the ICU my family brought me clothes and laptop and other normal hospital stay stuff. So I'd say pack like you would for a normal hospital stay, but have your parents keep it in their car until later when you're actually able to use the stuff.

I agree 100% with Matt. Perhaps bring just an overnight bag with you with a change of underwear, maybe some comfy PJ pants, a t-shirt or two, and your iPod (if you have one...it can be constantly noisy in the ICU if you're aware while you're there, and the iPod helps you drown out the noise so you can get rest). However, with most everything else you'll want, you'll be better off to have your parents (or whoever) bring it to you once you're out of the ICU. You're going to want a couple of changes of comfy clothes (whatever you usually wear in the hospital), probably your laptop, and some other things to do, etc. You won't really need those things until after you're up and around, but that could be as soon as a few days after your transplant. :-)
